Overview

ABOUT THE HOST

Mandated by the former Tourism and Industrial Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago (TIDCO), The Trinidad and Tobago Tour Guides’ Association (TTTGA) was established in October 1997.  The Association under Trade Union regulations has the vision of standardising the service of our local Tour Guides as well as the information being disseminated, thereby increasing their professionalism and, by extension, uplifting the nation’s tourism product.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

First we tour St Joseph the first capital of Trinidad that was established by the Spaniards in 1592 as San Jose de Oruna.  Hear the story of Daaga! And visit the oldest Church in Trinidad, St Joseph Catholic Church.

“Out of this World” is a lecture/demonstration with hands-on Astronomy session on our night sky. Each Session is two hours and is divided into two parts. Refreshments are included.

Part 1: A lecture and A/V demonstration on our night sky as it appears directly overhead; what are  Black Holes; past and future Space Travel; Going to Mars; New discoveries etc.

Part 2: A hands-on session where the guests get the opportunity to view the night sky using professional telescopes to see and identify stars and planets. If the weather is overcast, the session is moved back indoors where a simulation of the night sky is used.

Note: Trinidad is one of the few unique places near the equator where one can see both the North Star and the Southern Cross.
